Architectural Design - Fundamentals (ARCH 1000)

In this course, students are introduced to architectural design and the theory supporting this activity. They study the principles, logistics, and dependencies of the design process between project inception and its completion. Students learn the specific representations used in architectural design and various techniques for design presentation at different project development stages. They also learn how to read, interpret, and edit construction drawings, while understanding the information used in architectural design. Students are exposed to both metric and imperial unit systems and, besides the digital drawing format, they practice free-hand sketching and drawing, as well to communicate the information graphically.
