Adolescent Development (CYWK 1005)
Students gain knowledge of developmental theories of adolescent years ages 11-21. Unique and complex characteristics specific to adolescent social and emotional behaviour are discussed in relation to biological, psychological, sociological and environmental strengths and challenges. Issues such as the media, substance use and abuse and family disruption are examined. As well, students explore means of helping adolescents develop effective, prosocial coping strategies.
