Social Welfare, Community and Social Services (CYWK 2002)

Students explore social welfare, community and social service from a child and youth care (CYC) lens. Students examine the macro issues of the structure and administration of community organizations, government supports, and social services that operate within Canadian society. From the ecological/systems theory perspective, students analyze various social systems which impact children, youth and families within the youth criminal justice, children's protection, social welfare, education, community resources and health systems. In addition, learners investigate the concepts of power and privilege as they relate to services for vulnerable and diverse populations.
