Advanced Foot Care: RN-RPN (HSCI 0243)

Registered Nurses (RN) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) learn non-invasive foot care through a combination of theory, lab and clinical practice. Participants focus on the analysis of advanced foot problems, treatment, infection control, client education and scope of practice for the RN/RPN. Participants are asked to avoid cutting their toenails for 3-4 weeks prior to the course. A comprehensive manual and instruments are provided with the course. Must be Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse and provide CNO license number upon course registration. On the last day of the course, students provide foot care services to community members under the supervision of the instructor in a clinical setting. Participation in the clinical setting requires a clinical preparedness permit which is to be submitted on the first day of the course. Permit must include flu vaccine-valid for current flu season, police check and vulnerable sector screen-valid within 6 months, CPR level HCP-valid within one year, mask fit-valid within two years and Mantoux (TB) skin test-valid within one year.
