Human Kinetics for Policing (POLC 1005)

In this course, students are exposed to the concepts of fitness, health and the dimensions of wellness that are important to address the emotional, nutritional and physical demands of a career in law enforcement. Students are required to explore overall wellness, goal setting, and nutrition to develop a healthier lifestyle. Students examine principles of training and physical fitness theory, including cardiovascular, muscle conditioning, flexibility and balance fitness. Through lecture, in-group discussions and participation in various fitness modalities and tests students prepare for the physical requirements of Bona Fide Occupational Requirements (BFORs) in policing, the Ontario Police Fitness Award (OPFA) testing standards and various strength assessments.
