Introduction to Sociology (SOCI 1000)

Students develop an understanding of society, social structures, basic social institutions and their interrelations, the nature of social interactions, and the relationship between the individual and society. Particular attention is given to major issues within society such as power. Social issues will be examined comparatively with particular reference to Canadian society. Major theoretical issues in sociology, the methods of sociology, and the rules of evidence in social science are introduced.
